One of Blogger's nice features is that you can pretty much set up as many blogs as you want to. While that's not a ground-breaking feature, it's allowing me to have a development site where I can test new layouts and such without destroying the "real" patrickandlydia.com. All I have to do is cut and paste the code and whoop, there it is.
I played with the code and got the date header to return to the original format that I liked. Now on to more exciting things!
