As frequent readers have noted, we're in the beginning stages of TV shopping to replace our dearly departed Sony. While doing some web comparisons, I ran across a link to this blog entry which describes how the current flood of rapidly-dropping-in-price large widescreen LCD monitors on the market are cutting corners by using widescreens designed for computers rather than HDTV. This may seem innocuous enough, but the "squeezed" resolution may result in a fun house effect on the picture or force you into dealing with excess letterboxing.

HD buyer beware!
