me... not me

Patrick WattsHave you ever googled yourself? Have you ever been frustrated about how many of the links are not about you? If it weren't for some British race car driver and a popular adventure guide in the Falkland Islands, I'd be doing pretty well. I actually am the first result (with this page) when you google Patrick Watts.

However, there are some links buried in the search engines that are about me, or content that I have authored... but aren't readily findable unless you dig waaaaaay deep into the result pages. And... there are some that aren't even found in a normal search that I wouldn't mind people associating with me. At the same time, there are some that I would like to voluntarily disambiguate as "not about me," or "not by me" (like this guy on myspace.)

Enter ClaimID.com. At this site, you can set up an account and easily manage a list of links that are about you, and aren't about you. Plus, you can add all kinds of subcategories for however you need to classify the links. Think of it as dmoz.org for you personally.

Initally, I didn't think it would be worth it, but it has turned out to be fun... digging up things that are me, and aren't me. There's more I could link to, but I think I have enough for someone to be able to judge what's me and not me out there from the links I've chosen. Click the button above to visit my public page.

Of course, I'm not trying to hide something like this from anyone... :)

I can't believe you found that!

Not because it's hidden, but because I assumed that after I no longer updated it that it was gone with the wind.

How cool is that! I love that it's still out there somewhere.
