So my Dad back in Texas now has fiber to the curb. 5MB down and 2MB up. To compound the irony of my Dad having technology advanced beyond mine, he's still using AOL for email.
Meanwhile, out here in the boondocks of Davidson County, we have a grand total of two options: overpay Comcast or overpay BellSouth. Where's all the deregulation love?

I don't see the problem. Just do as everyone else has done and mooch off your neighbors' unsecured wifi.
Unfortunately, my DSL service was deteriorating until I was thinking, "dial-up is better than this". I'm really not sure what I'm going to be charged. One place says 29.95 and another says 32.95. All I can say now is, " it's great to be rid of the modem and all the filters on my phone lines" and my AOL radio seems to have lost its stutter.
Love,
Dad
